Hearing tests
A comprehensive hearing assessment measures how well you hear tones and understand speech, and checks the health of your ear canal and middle ear. It takes about 30 to 60 minutes, you do not need a referral, and it is free for eligible Hearing Services Program clients.

The Australian Government Hearing Services Program can fully fund your hearing assessment and a set of fully subsidised hearing aids if you are eligible. Revive Hearing is an accredited provider, so you can get your assessment, fitting and follow-up care with us.
You may be eligible if you are
- A Pensioner Concession Card holder
- A DVA Gold Card holder, or a White Card holder for hearing loss
- Receiving Sickness Allowance from Centrelink
- A member of the Australian Defence Force
- Referred through Disability Employment Services
- A dependant of an eligible person

Meet Sharada Tammali
Sharada is the Director and Principal Audiologist at Revive Hearing, with more than 18 years of experience in hearing testing and rehabilitation for adults.
She holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Audiology, Speech and Language Pathology, is an accredited Diagnostic and Rehabilitation Specialist with the Australian College of Audiology, and has completed specialised training in tinnitus and hyperacusis.

Questions we hear often
Do I need a referral to see an audiologist?
No. You can book a hearing test, hearing aid appointment, ear wax removal or tinnitus assessment directly. A GP referral is needed for the Diagnostic Hearing Test with GP Report, and for a Medicare rebate on balance (vestibular) testing.
Are hearing tests and hearing aids free for pensioners?
If you are eligible for the Australian Government Hearing Services Program, for example as a Pensioner Concession Card or DVA Gold Card holder, your hearing assessment and fully subsidised hearing aids are funded. Conditions apply.
How long does a hearing test take?
A standard hearing assessment usually takes 30 to 60 minutes, including time to explain your results.
Is microsuction ear wax removal painful?
No, it is generally painless and uses no water. It usually takes 15 to 30 minutes and most people notice clearer hearing straight away.
Can you service hearing aids I bought somewhere else?
Yes. As an independent clinic we clean, reprogram and arrange repairs for all major hearing aid brands.
Which clinic should I book?
Choose whichever is closest: Beaconsfield, South Launceston, Lilydale or Legana. Sharada travels between all four. Balance and vertigo testing is at South Launceston only.
